Choosing an Agent

Choosing an Agent

Buying a home can be an overwhelming thought. Location, neighbourhood, and schools can be unfamiliar and seem impossible to sort out. Selling can seem like an insurmountable task. An agent can help you sort through this process.

  • Choose an agent carefully. Don’t sign a buyer’s contract unless you are comfortable to do so.
  • Look for an agent that has come recommended. If you are moving to a new city for a job, quiz future co-workers. Ask family and friends for someone that worked well for them. If you don’t know anyone then set up a few interview type questions for a phone call.
  • Buying a home is a huge transaction. Be honest and open with the agent you choose.
  • If you are under a contract remember you are the boss. You have the right to part ways with the agent. Agents are professionals. If you don’t feel comfortable with the agent you have chosen, let them know and find someone that you feel more comfortable with.

Agents are there to help you through the process of buying or selling a home. They are required to act with honesty and integrity with all parties. Agents are educated and experienced. They have knowledge of the real estate market and are familiar with the areas they service. A good agent can make the experience a pleasant one.
